Often when you hear the word yoga, you instantly picture someone bent up like a pretzel. The word yoga can be translated as yoking or uniting. The true goal of a yoga practice is to bring together the innate powers of the mind, breath and body and the great news is, in order to do this you do not need to flexible, you simply need an open mind and sense of curiosity.
For this reason we are excited to bring Chair Yoga to Unity of Fort Wayne Spiritual Center every week on Tuesdays. This class is open to anyone who would like to gain the benefits of yoga while having the support of a chair for your practice. We will do both seated and standing poses, joint freeing movements, awareness and breath work and every session will end with a relaxation practice.
Chair Yoga offers the exact same benefits as a “regular” yoga practice which can include: better mobility, flexibility, strength, sleep, improved immune response, better perception and reduced stress. No yoga experience necessary, wear comfortable clothing and bring an open heart.
Yoga mat optional, donations encouraged.
